Football 2014

The 2014 Heidelberg Academy football season ended last night with a heartbreaking loss to Newton.  Whoever said it doesn’t matter if you win or lose probably lost.  Although the season ended on a sour note, the good memories far outnumber the bad.  The pictures below capture a few of the fun moments that Heidelberg Academy students will remember for years.

Having prayer after games shows humility and honors God.

Mrs. Bounds kissing a pig

Completely Awesome!

Superhero Day
Teachers and coaches unafraid to show their fun side are the most successful, for they earn the respect of students.

The pig went home with lipstick on its head after Mrs. Ritchey kissed it goodbye.

True leadership and school pride

Mrs. Taylor made a new friend.

last but not least....

Thanks for the memories!

Softball Day and Limo Ride

The first few days of October were busy ones at Heidelberg Academy.  After an exciting win Monday, the softball team claimed a state championship title.  The team was honored with a reception Thursday.  All of the girls anxiously await their well-deserved state championship rings.

Although Thursday was “Softball Day” at Heidelberg Academy, top cookie dough sellers enjoyed a limo ride to Laurel for pizza as well.

Powder Puff Football and Cow Bingo Day at HA!

Are you tough enough to powder puff?  Well, the faculty and staff at Heidelberg Academy are tough enough to engage in a friendly game of powder puff football with a host of high school girls.  The competitive nature of those participating made the game fun for all.  At the end of the game, the ladies in pink held a 22 – 16 lead over those representing the blue team.  No doubt the blue team will look forward to a rematch.  Students and parents enjoyed cheering for their chosen team, but everyone appreciated the effort and time given by these individuals to make the day fun and successful.  The day began with our little Rebels playing a game of flag football, and their ability to move the ball on the field makes it clear Heidelberg Academy’s winning football tradition will continue with these little guys.  As all eyes fixated on the football field, Stella, the cow, quietly awaited her release onto the baseball field.  Stella made her monetary deposit on a square that made Cow Bingo winner Pam Fail $1,000 richer!

It takes a huge amount of work and planning to make a day like Saturday fun and successful.  A casual observer may fail to realize that someone had to prepare the food, cook the food, serve the food, clean the grounds, clean the concession stand, clean the restrooms, sell tickets for steak sandwiches, cut the grass, sell cow bingo tickets, prepare the cow bingo grid, transport Stella, secure the field for Stella, coach the teams, create the teams, make the rules, explain the rules, and then communicate, all the above, to the appropriate individuals to make sure it all goes off without a hitch.  Private schools rely on those willing to give of their time, talents and money to ensure students a positive academic experience.  Every ticket sold, every event attended, every burger flipped and then purchased means something positive to Heidelberg Academy.  No one is more cherished than someone who lightens the burden of another.  Any help makes a difference and is greatly appreciated.

Almost seven hours of work went into preparing the grid, but it took Stella less than five minutes to do her "job."  Who knew Cow Bingo could teach so much patience?????
